I thought I was just being lazy and cheap, tossing sheepskins from Ikea onto my flea market chairs.

I thought I was just not wanting to commit… to fabric, color, style, an upholsterer and writing a big old check.

But no… I was being stylish.  Look!  Other decorators are using sheepskins too;  on chairs, sofas, beds and floors, making them decadently cozy and so so soft.  Perfect for this time of the year when snuggling up is what we want to do.

We decorated this SoCal beach cottage according to the owners’ wishes. They wanted texture, pops of bright, sea-inspired colors and an emphasis on the what was outside.  A little goes a loooong way, with a view like this!

A sandy colored shag rug, patterned and burlap pillows, rattan and wicker accessories and lots and lots of shells warm up the white slipcovered furniture.

Even the kitchen was adorned with colorful, beach inspired accessories.

Above the mantel, more blues and greens.

How would you decorate your beach house?

A kitchen looks especially wonderful when decorated with the same types of accessories used in the rest of the house.

I love the look of a real table lamp sitting on the countertop.  Something about it seems so unexpected and looks, well, finished. My client Regina has placed this gorgeous lamp, made from a vintage vase, in her kitchen and grouped it with several other pieces of pottery.  The colors and warm glow in the evening are so pretty.

She loves to cover her cooktop when not in use, with a decades old cutting board that is loaded with more vintage bowls filled with fruits, nuts and plants.

Her sparkly chandelier and antique mirror make this San Clemente kitchen THE place to be when the sun is shining.

REAL art, antiques and plants have a place in every nook and cranny of Regina’s kitchen.

Everyone is content and comfortable here in this sweet, feel good space.
